The idea for Her Handwriting was born from my grandmother’s one cookbook of historic family recipes, and a desire to preserve these memories and share them with generations to come.
Our story
My Oma (German for grandma) was born and raised in Romania and moved to the United States in her 20s, bringing with her a lifetime of recipes and family traditions. From stuffed peppers and pumpkin roll to tiramisu and homemade cookies, her kitchen is full of flavors our family has loved for generations.
Every time I visit, I see her magic in that one well-worn cookbook, the pages dusted with flour from countless cooking sessions. It hit me: her handwriting, her recipes, and her love for cooking shouldn’t be hidden in a single book. Everyone in the family deserved to have their own copy, and these treasured recipes deserved to be shared beyond our kitchen.
That’s why I created Her Handwriting to honor my Oma, preserve her handwritten recipes, and turn them into beautifully designed, keepsake cookbooks that families can cherish, cook from, and pass down for generations.
More than just recipes
Looking at these pages, I realized so many families have recipes like this tucked away in drawers and boxes. Flour-dusted pages, handwritten adjustments, notes only family members understand.
